India’s second homeopathic drugs testing lab to be set up in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Good news for homeopathic practitioners and patients taking medicines on regular basis as a laboratory will be set up in the state capital for testing the standard of homeopathic drugs.

The proposed homeopathic drugs testing laboratory will be established on premises of Dr. Abhin Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, a premier homeopathic college in the city, informed Ayush Odisha director Gopabandhu Satapathy.

The lab will be set up by the Odisha government under National Ayush Mission.

With setting up of the homeopathic drugs testing laboratory in Bhubaneswar, people of Odisha need not to go outside the state for testing the standard of homeopathic medicines.

It will be the second laboratory in the country after Ghaziabad’s Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia Laboratory (HPL). The building construction work has already started in first phase of the project for which Rs 3 crore will be sanctioned. The project will create new job opportunity for the homeopathic practitioners and researchers in Odisha. While Rs 68 lakh has been sanctioned in the first phase, necessary testing equipment will be transported to the centre in phases.

As entire country was depending on Ghaziabad unit for testing homeopathic medicines, it was taking much time for getting test reports.

After the facility is availed in Odisha, the neighbouring states can also take benefits, said Satapathy during National Homeopathic Conference held here by Dr. Abhin Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital in association with Ministry of Ayush.
