Infosys names new CEO, CFO for BPO arm

Bengaluru, Nov 19:

Global software major Infosys Ltd. has appointed Anup Uppadhayay the new chief executive officer (CEO) and Deepak Bhalla the new chief financial officer (CFO) of its (business processing outsourcing (BPO) subsidiary.

A veteran Infoscion, Uppadhayay was the global head of the parent company’s financial services business till recently and held various executive positions during his over two decades old service.

“As BPO is of strategic importance to us, our endeavour is to transform it with process innovation, automation and artificial intelligence to deliver efficiency and business value to our clients,” Infosys chief executive Vishal Sikka said in a statement here Wednesday.

Sikka hoped the company’s back office operations would become an exemplar on how business processes should be run under the leadership of Uppadhayay and Bhalla.

Bhalla, who joined the IT bellwether in 1998, was head of its corporate accounting group till recently.

The new appointments to the BPO arm were made following the resignation of incumbent CEO Gautam Thakkar with effect from Nov 30 and sacking of incumbent CFO Abraham Mathews for not complying with its code of conduct.

“Mathews’ departure is in line with our goal of setting the highest standard of corporate governance and adhering to the letter and spirit of our code of conduct,” the company said in a statement on the occasion.

The company hived off its BPO back office business into a subsidiary in 2002 to focus on integrated outsourcing and deliver transformational benefits to its global clients through reduced costs, productivity improvements and process re-engineering.

The subsidiary operates from 15 countries across Asia, Europe and the Americas, with 30,537 employees as of Sep 30. (IANS)
