Intense cold wave grips Odisha with 13 places plummet sub 10 deg C

Bhubaneswar: An intense cold wave saw most parts of Odisha shivering today with Daringbadi, known as Kashmir of Odisha, at a biting 3 degrees Celsius.

According to India Meteorological Office, Bhubaneswar, as many as 13 towns in the State recorded temperature below 13 degree Celsius.

Phulbani of Kandhamal district recorded 4.5 deg C, Sundargarh 7 and Jharsugada  7.8 degree Celsius, Sonepur and Koraput 9.5 degrees each, Balangir 9.6 degrees, Bhawanipatana 8 degrees, Hirakud 8.2 deg C, Sambalpur 8.5 deg C , Baripada 9.4 degree, Angul 8.5 degree and Keonjhar 8.2 deg C.

State capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 13 and 12 degree Celsius respectively.

The cold wave condition is likely to persist in the State for the next few days.

“Though there wouldn’t be any further dip in temperature but the cold conditions will prevail for the next few days across the State,” said IMD-Bhubaneswar Director Sarat Chandra Sahu.

As the temperature drops considerably for the last few days, people are finding it difficult to do their daily chores with many preferring to stay indoors.
