Inter-state bus terminal in Odisha capital: DIMTS to prepare design

Bhubaneswar: Delhi-based Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) Ltd will prepare design of inter-sate bus terminal here within two months.

Around Rs 79 lakh will be invested by the company for the existing bus stand in Baramunda that will be transformed into inter-state bus terminal in the city.

The bus terminal will have all kinds of facilities. The DIMTS, which takes credit to have prepared the designs of inter-state bus terminals located in Kashmir Gate, Sarai Kale Khan and Ananda Vihar in New Delhi, has won the bidding for preparing the design of the terminal in Bhubaneswar. The infrastructure development company has also designed the development of New Delhi Railway Station, Ananda Vihar Railway Station and eight cities of neighbouring Jharkhand, said sources in the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).

The DIMTS will also prepare a design about all the advanced facilities to be made available in the bus terminal.

The bus terminal will be complete users friendly for the persons with physically challenged and children, BDA sources said.

The CCTV cameras will be installed in 15.5 acre bus stand in Baramunda along with having facilities for prepaid auto and taxi bookings. There will be facility for online ticket booking for buses, autos and taxis. A space will be allotted for the traders at the bus stand. The terminal will have toilet facilities (both AC and non-AC) for the passengers.

The bus terminal will be upgraded with WiFi facility and optical fiber network. Besides, there will be counter for providing real time parking, transit information for inter-state and intra-state bus services.
