Inter-state dacoity gang busted in Rourkela; 12 arrested  

Rourkela: In a major breakthrough, the Rourkela police of Sundergarh district have arrested 12 inter-state dacoits here and seized bikes and gold chains worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.

At a press meet here, Panposh SDPO P Sahu today said a joint team of the Rourkela police along with Plant Site police, Udinagar police, Raghunathpalli police and Chhend police busted the gang and arrested 12 looters, including kingpin Rakesh Sagar. The cops also seized 31 bikes, an auto-rickshaw and eight gold chains from their possession.

Police said the arrested persons are involved in several dacoity incidents in Sambalpur,Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Jharkhand.

“The dacoits used to loot bikes from various places and sell the same at a low price range of Rs 5000- Rs 10,000. Search is on to nab other members of the gang,” said a police official.
