Inter-state robbers’ gang busted

Commissionerate police today claimed to have busted a dacoity gang while it was attempting to commit robbery in the Chandrasekharpur area in Odisha’s capital city, Bhubaneswar.dacoit gang

Twin city Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma said four persons of an inter-state robber’s gang were arrested by the special squad of the Commissonerate Police while two mausers, 10 rounds of live bullets, seven mobile phones, five high value bikes, 13 gold chains, two electronic gadgets (tablets) and Rs 9000 cash were seized from their possession.

The accused, identified as Subrat Rao alias Chandu (30) of Narayan basti of Unit-8, Bitu Thakur (43) of Canal Colony under Laxmisagar police limits, Rajesh Nayak (21) of Banapur in Khurda district( staying at present in Laxmisagar), Santosh Sethi alias Sidhu (22) of Khairi under Pipili police limits ( staying presently at Adivasi Basti under Chandrasekharpur police limits ), were forwarded to the local court here today.

They all were booked under section 379, 395, 399, 402, 457 and 25/27 Arms Act.seized arms and phones

Dr Sharma said the team had nabbed Subrat nine days ago and based on the information revealed by him, the special squad conducted a raid and arrested these accused involved in several robbery and chain snatching incidents. Another associate of the dacoity gang Sidharth Nayak alias Milu (23) of Prahalad Sahi in Balugaon fled from the spot during the raid, he said.

The accused have several cases of loot and dacoity registered against them at different police stations such as Chandrasekharpur, Khandagiri, Saheed Nagar, Nayapalli and Banapur police stations, Dr Sharma added.
