Interstate drug peddler arrested by Odisha Police from Guwahati

Bhubaneswar: The STF of Odisha Police arrested an interstate drug peddler from Guwahati, official sources said today.

The STF apprehended the accused with assistance from the Assam Police. He has been identified as Salim Ahmmed of Manipur.

The accused had alleged involvement in a case pertaining to seizure of over 1 kg of brown sugar in Odisha in December, last year.

While two other accused persons were earlier arrested in the case, Salim had absconded and gone into hiding in Guwahati. He was the prime drug peddler and main accused in the case.

After being arrested, he was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati and brought to Odisha on transit.

Further investigation in this case was underway.
