IT engineer goes missing while bathing in Derjang dam; rescue operation on

Angul: An IT engineer today went missing while bathing in Derjang irrigation dam in Angul district of Odisha, sources said.

On being informed, fire brigade personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue mission.

According to sources, Dibhanshu Hota, an IT engineer in Bangalore, along with a few youths including Ranjit Mohanty, Biplab Bose, MD Akij, Sumit Satapathy Ashish Sahoo, Dibya Ranjan Samal and Subrat Samal visited the dam to celebrate the Friendship Day.

Dibhanshu, son of former Nalco DGM Trinath Shankar Hota and senior DPS teacher Pushpanjali Hota, went missing in the dam while bathing on Monday, sources said.

Dibhanshu reportedly entered into the water in a pair of jeans and swam around a distance of 100 metres before he went missing in the dam.

The fire brigade personnel along with the local police launched an operation to rescue Dibhanshu. However, they could not trace him till the last report came in.

“The rescue operation is underway. The fire brigade personnel are facing trouble due rain. Angul Sub-Collector and other senior officials are monitoring the operation,” said a source.
