Bhubaneswar, May 26:

The Twin City Commissionerate police today arrested Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) Dean (Placement) Rajkishore Hota for his alleged involvement in fake recruitment.

“There is no fault on the part of the educational institution. Rather, the consultancy firm has committed mistake. The matter is under investigation. Those found guilty will be punished,” Hota said.

“The registrar of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University (under which ITER functions) had filed an FIR mentioning that they had engaged a consultancy firm which is responsible for the incident. The university officials have failed to show any agreement with the consultancy company. Preliminary investigation reveals involvement of Hota in the incident for which he has been arrested. Further investigations are on,” Twin City Commissioner of Police YB Khurania said.

“Probe into the matter is on. Action will be taken thereafter,” said Technical Education Minister Usha Devi.

As many as 50 students of the college have alleged that they got fake job letters for recruitment in many leading companies during the campus placement drive.

On the other hand, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University vice chancellor Prof Amit Banerjee today assured the duped students to provide each of them Rs 20,000 monthly stipend for a year and fresh job within three months following which they called off the indefinite hunger strike which they had staged since yesterday protesting the alleged fake recruitment by the varsity.
