Rayagada, Apr 27:

Suspended School Inspector (SI) Netrananda Dandasena — who was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder of Tikiri UP School teacher Itishree Pradhan yesterday – began a fast-unto-death today to protest against the verdict pronounced by District and Sessions Court of Odisha’s Rayagada.

Confirming the fast-unto-death, Rayagada sub-jail Superintendent Raj Kishore Nayak said that Dandasena submitted a written petition on this count at 9 AM today.

The petition states that he has been denied justice and would continue with the fast until an impartial enquiry is conducted.

“He has been kept in a separate cell. Special arrangements have been made to facilitate water to his cell. Besides, special guards have also been deployed to keep an eye on him. I have already informed about his fast to Rayagada district collector, Additional Director General (ADG), DIG Berhampur among others,” said Nayak.

“We have requested for escort requisition. We will take him to the hospital for a health check-up once we have the necessary staff,” he added.

It may be noted here that his daughter Rosy Dandasena and counsel Bishnu Prasad Panda have already said that they will appeal against the order in the higher court.
