Jajpur will be a model for others: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: Jajpur district of Odisha is marching ahead in the fields of industry, employment and infrastructure, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.

“Jajpur has a glorious past. It has a special identity in the fields of art, culture, literature, agriculture and tourism. I am quite sure that Jajpur will be the number one district of Odisha in terms of development. It will become a model for other districts,” said Patnaik while inaugurating the Jajpur District Festival 2013 through videoconference.

The festival will continue for six days.

Jajpur has been associated with several religions and sects. It was the capital of ancient Odisha. Ratnagiri, Lalitgiri and Udayagiri of Jajpur are well-known for their close link with the Buddhist culture, said the Chief Minister.

“Jajpur is the home of Goddess Biraja. It is one of the popular Shakti Peeths in the state. The district has enriched our culture,” added the Chief Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, BJD organizational general secretary and MLA Pranab Prakash Das praised the Chief Minister’s vision for the development of Jajpur.

“The Chief Minister has initiated several measures for the all-round development of Jajpur. Kalinga Nagar steel complex, Jajpur medical college and several other developmental projects were implemented in the district under the leadership of the Chief Minister,” he added.

MLA Sunanda Das and Jajpur Zilla Parishad president Naliniprava Jena also praised the Chief Minister’s initiatives for the district.

Among others, 5T Secretary VK Pandian, Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Revenue Minister Pramila Mallick, Rural Development Minister Pritiranjan Ghadai and MLAs Amar Prasad Satpathy, Pranab Balabantaray and Ashok Bal were present on the occasion.

Jajpur Collector Chakravarti Singh Rathore gave the welcome address at the inaugural ceremony.
