Jaleswar BDO under Vigilance lens; 24 plots, 2 multi-storey buildings detected

Balasore/Cuttack: Odisha Vigilance today raided residences and office of Jaleswar BDO Ashwini Kumar Das on charges of accumulating properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A team of Vigilance sleuths including five DSPs and 9 Inspectors searched houses and residence of the OAS Officer at six places in Balasore, Kendrapara and Cuttack districts.

During searches, the anti-corruption agency detected 24 plots, two buildings — one triple-storey building worth Rs 1.22 crore at Kalapada and one double-storey building valued at Rs 1.10 crore at Srikrusna Vihar at Jhinkiria under 42 Mouza in Cuttack — and one brick kiln at Kalapada from possession the official.

Besides, the Vigilance sleuths also found 330 gram gold jewelries, 1.1 kg silver jewelries and Rs 1.70 lakh cash from his possession during the raids.

The raids were conducted by the Vigilance a day after the State Government transferred Ashwini Das as the Tahasildar of Jatani.
