JE claims two more lives in Odisha’s Malkangiri; toll mounts to 102

Malkangiri, Nov 10:

Killer Japanese Encephalitis claimed lives of two more children in Odisha’s Malkangiri taking the death toll in the vector-borne disease to 102 in 63 days in the district.

The deceased were identified as Mangaraj Madkami (7) of Kispali village under Korkonda block and Govind Kope (2) of Bayanayakguda in the district.

Both succumbed to the disese while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

The death toll had touched 100 yesterday with the death of one Mukesh Sodi (2) of Kudeiguda village under Korkonda block.

Meanwhile, sources said that Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan would visit Malkangiri on November 14 to take stock of the situation.

Pradhan was earlier scheduled to visit Malkangiri on November 4 but it was cancelled by the district administration due to security reasons as Maoists had given a bandh call in five states including Odisha.
