JE, police thrashed by villagers in Odisha’s Balasore. Here’s why

Balasore: Residents of Mahisamunda village under Bhograi block of Odisha’s Balasore district today thrashed a Junior Engineer (JE) of North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Limited (NESCO) and a policeman over their cultivated land being damaged after fire emerged out of a transformer.

According to reports, JE Madan Mohan Sahu had visited the village for inspecting power supply to an irrigation point in the area.

In the meantime, locals gheraoed Sahu and thrashed him unitedly. A policemen, who tried to rescue the JE, was also reportedly beaten and manhandled by them.

Protesting the damage to the land, the villagers also set it on fire.
