Jeypore-based jewellery shop fined Rs 22.42 lakh for tax evasion

Jeypore: The Goods and Services Tax’s (GST) Enforcement Squad has imposed a fine of Rs 22.42 lakh on a jewellery shop in Jeypore town in Koraput district.

Mayuri Jewellery Shop in Jeypore was fined after the GST enforcement team found its involvement in irregularities in gold and silver jewellery sale and purchase.

On October 4, the enforcement team raided 12 jewellery shops including Mayuri Jewellery Shop in the state for their alleged involvement in irregularities.

During questioning the jewellery shop owner could not provide accounts of 690 grams of gold and 11,329 grams of silver. Following this, the enforcement team penalized the Jeypore-based jewellery shop.
