Jharpada jail viral video: 3 jail superintendents transferred

Bhubaneswar: Taking prompt action, IG of Prisons and Correctional Services Himashu Lal transferred three jail superintendents after few videos showing some prisoners at Jharpada jail here smoking ganja went viral.

Bhubaneswar Special Jail Superintendent Dheerendra Nath Barik was transferred to Balangir District Jail while Balangir District Jail Superitendent Urmila Minj transferred to Puri District Jail. Saroj Biswal, Superintendent of Puri District Jail has been transferred to Bhubaneswar Special Jail.

Earlier in the day, few video footages from the Jharpada jail surfaced on social media.

In one of the viral videos, once can see one group of inmates at the Jharpada jail indulged in merrymaking by singing songs and playing musical instruments and another group smoking ganja in a chillum (a traditional smoking pipe made of clay). In another video, the prisoners were found dancing inside the jail.
