Bhubaneswar, Apr 5:

Reacting to Union Minister Jual Oram’s remark on alleged rift within the ruling BJD, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that he is indulged in unrealistic assumptions.

“He is indulging in wishful thinking”, said CM Patnaik while replying to media persons here today.

When asked about the proposal of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for formation of Third Front to counter the BJP, he said that it is far away to make such decision.

“I think the general elections are far away to make such decision”, he said.

On farmers’ crop loan waiving, he said, “We will examine the matter”.

“Today I held meeting with the winning candidates of panchayat polls in Puri and Bargarh districts. I discussed the problems of people and their desires. There will be a review after six months”, he added.

On the other hand, State Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy said that the government is considering to waive off the farmers’ loan in Odisha.

“The government is mulling to waive off the farmers’ loan. The issued was raised by Delang block chairman at the meeting with CM Patnaik to waive off the crop loan”, he said.

“What is not happening in other states, it happens in Odisha. While subsidy is not given on power tiller and tractor in any other states, we have system to provide subsidy on purchase of power tiller and tractor in Odisha”, Maharathy added.

The BJD supremo’s views came just a day after Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram made an explosive statement that some leaders including members of parliament and assemblies of other parties are willing to join the BJP.

“The BJD is going through a serious internal conflict. We are not interested in breaking and destabilise other political parties. After our victory in four states in the recently concluded assembly elections and stupendous performance in Zila Parishad polls, leaders from other parties want to join the BJP,” Oram had told media persons yesterday.
