Kalicharan Maharaj held for derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi

Raipur: Hailing Nathuram Godse and speaking against Mahatma Gandhi proved costlier for Kalicharan Maharaj as he was arrested by the Raipur Police in Madhya Pradesh today.

The self-claimed godman was arrested from a rented accommodation near Bagheswar Dham, around 25 km away from Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh at around 4 am, informed Raipur SP Prashant Agarwal.

Based on a complaint filed by former Raipur Mayor Pramod Dubey at the Tikrapara Police Station in Raipur, the police lodged an FIR against Kalicharan Maharaj.

The spiritual leader has been booked under sections 505(2) and 294 of the IPC.

Targeting a particular religion, Kalicharan had allegedly made a hate speech at the Dharam Sansad at Ravan Bhata ground in Raipur on December 26.

He had alleged that Islam’s target is to capture the country through politics.

“I salute Nathuram Godse for killing Mahatma Gandhi,” the self-styled godman had said at the event.
