Kamada Ekadashi falls on the ‘ekadashi’ of the Shukla Paksha during the Hindu lunar month of ‘Chaitra’. It is the first ekadashi after the Hindu New Year.

This ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Kamada Ekadashi 2022 Date: April 12, Tuesday.

Ekadashi Tithi Begins: April 12, 2022 4:30 AM.

Ekadashi Tithi Ends: April 13, 2022 5:02 AM.

Fast Breaking Time: April 13, 1:42 PM – April 13, 4:12 PM.

Rituals: Devotees start the day with a bath during sunrise. They worship the idol of Lord Krishna with sandalwood, flowers, fruits and dhoop.

Fast is observed by devotees on the day of Kamada Ekadashi. They can eat one meal comprising of milk products, fruits, vegetables, nuts and dried fruits. The food should be vegetarian.

The fasting begins from the ‘dashami’ of the Chaitra Shukla Paksha. The vrat observer should take the only meal before sunset.

The fasting continues till the sunrise of the following day, Dwadashi. The fast is broken after offering food and some ‘dakshina’ to a Brahmin.

On this day, devotees chant Vedic mantras, bhajans of Lord Krishna and Vishnu Sahastranaam.
