Kandhamal firing: Odisha Congress takes out rally in Baliguda

Baliguda, Aug 13: 

Odisha unit of Congress today took out a massive rally from Mahasingha temple of Baliguda town till the PWD square there to mark the completion of its five-day long Adhikar Yatra.

The rally was attended by nearly 10,000 activists and supporters of the party along with bigwigs including PCC President Prasad Harichandan, AICC Secretary Bhakta Das, AICC SC cell Chairman K Raju, AICC Odisha in-charge BK Hariprasad, Deputy in-charge Subhankar Sarkar, former president Jayadev Jena, former Chief Minister Hemanand Biswal and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi.

The party started the yatra on August 9 seeking justice for the victims of Gumudumaha shootout and to protest against government inaction on the issue.

The leaders complained that the State Government has failed to take action against the culprits in the case and demanded an investigation of the shootout by a sitting judge.

Besides, PCC Chief Harichandan demanded more compensation to the families of the victims.

The district administration had deployed 13 platoons of cops to avoid any untoward incident during the rally.
