Phulbani, Aug 27:

The court of sub divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) on Tuesday acquitted 41 accused persons from Gudripadi village under Sarangagada village for lack of evidence on their involvement in the horrific communal riots in Odisha’s Kandhamal district in 2008.

Complaints were lodged against these 41 accused for rioting after the gruesome murder of VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in August, 2008 at his Jaleshpeta ashram.

However, the Baliguda SDJM judge Hrusikesh Acharya, while hearing the case, acquitted the accused for lack of evidence.
