Baleswar, Mar 19:Kartikeswar Patra

Senior Congress leader, former MP and  former Bhograi MLA Kartikeswar Patra today snapped his ties with Congress by announcing his resignation from the party.

He was upset with the party high command’s re-nomination of Union minister Srikant Jena as the candidate for the Baleswar Lok Sabha seat as well as selection of some candidates for the assembly seats in Baleswar, sources said.

Patra said he was resigning from the party for the lack of discipline within the party.

Patra who was elected to the Odisha Assembly  thrice from Bhograi on a Congress ticket in 1971,1974 and 1980 is likely to join the Trinamool Congress and contest the Baleswar Lok Sabha seat.
