Kendu leaf DFO arrested by Odisha Vigilance while taking bribe

Nuapada: Khariar Kendu Leaf division DFO Laxmikant Mishra was arrested by Odisha vigilance while accepting bribe here yesterday night.

The vigilance sleuths caught Mishra in red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 2.20 lakh from ranger Parshuram Patel for clearing quarters and kendu leaf storage building construction bill.

During a raid, the vigilance seized Rs 2.20 lakh from him and Rs 10 lakh from his government quarters, said Bhawanipatna DSP Satyaban Mahananda.

According to reports, the vigilance laid the trap to catch Mishra red-handed following complaint by Parshuram Patel who was asked by the DFO to pay Rs 2.20 lakh as PC for construction of government building.

Mishra’s residence and government quarters were raided yesterday night. Following the arrest, Mishra was forwarded to territorial vigilance court this morning.
