KIIT bags award for Best Technical Education Institute in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, July 26:

KIIT was awarded the best Technical Education Institute, best innovative University and Best Director award at the National Odisha Education Summit and award giving ceremony 2014 held at KIIT University today.

Dr. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT University received the award on behalf of KIIT University.

IIT, Bhubaneswar got best Engineering Institute, while Biju Patnaik Institute of Information Technology (BIITM) got Excellent in training and Placement Institute in Odisha award, Gandhi institute education and technology(GIET) got Best Emerging Engineering College in Odisha, Upcoming Technical Education Institute in Odisha Award went to Nalanda Institute of Technology, Best Government Engineering Institute Rural Area in Odisha to Govt. College of Engineering, Kalahandi, Bhawanipatna, Oldest Private Engineering Institute in Odisha Award to Odisha Engineering College(OEC), Excellent Business School award to Srusti Academy of Management while Manjaridevi College and School of Nursing got the Excellency Paramedical in Odisha Award.

The formal function was held in the presence of Pradeep Ku. Panigrahi, minister, Higher Education, Information and Technology and Rural Drinking Water Supply, N. K. Goel, President, Communication and Multimedia Infrastructure (CMAI) Association of India, Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, Prof. P P Mathur, VC, KIIT University and Amit Das of Data Mind.

Speaking on the occasion the minister Panigrahi said, the sole goal of education is not getting a job, but inculcate a sense of being loyal and helpful to the society, the state and the country as a whole.

Odisha will be the educational hub of the country by 2020, he hoped.

Awards were also given to the winners of the students’ debate on the topic “Is electronic system and design manufacturing important for Indian Economy”.

While Dipanita Goshal of Silicon Engineering College bagged the first prize, Shreya Mishra of GIET came second.

In another debate competition on “Is alternative energy important for education and industry” Asambhab Subha and Sipun Mishra of KIIT got the first and second prize respectively. Sabhya Soni of Silicon College got the stylish speaker prize.
