KiiT School students protest rape of Odisha school girl in Bangalore

Students of KiiT International School in the state capital of Odisha staged a march this morning in protest against the rape of a six-year-old Odia girl in a reputed school in Bangalore.

KiiT (2)On July 2, a six-year-old first grade student was allegedly raped by two gym instructors at the Vibgyor High School in the city.

Thousands of students holding placards staged a rally from KiiT International School to KIIT Square demanding speedy justice to the victim.

Demanding stern action against the accused, they expressed grave concern over the increasing incidence of rape and other criminal activities in schools and urged the government to take take up awareness programmes in schools and formulation of laws.

The students also invited the victim girl to take admission in KiiT International School subject to the consent of her parents.

“It was heartbreaking to know about such heinous crime. It is high time to change the general attitude towards the girls and women in the society. Steps should be taken to introduce value education in school curriculum,” said Dr Achyut Samanta, founder of KIIT and KISS.
