KIIT students win regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz

The prestigious and much-awaited Tata Crucible Campus Quiz is back with its intelligent format and stimulating questions to challenge college students across the country. Abhinav Dhar and Siddharth Mishra from KIIT defeated 95 number of teams to win the Bhubaneswar regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2016 held in XIMB. They will now battle against the champions from eight cities at the Zone 2 finals.

Rohit Mohanty and Satyam Rahul Jain from XIMB were declared as the runners-up. The 12th edition of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz is a unique 20-20 game to be played on the basis of a 20 question Prelim followed by a T20 format final.

The quiz that has now expanded to 36 cities has numerous exciting rounds in the T20 format. These rounds are designed to test the contestants’ speed of thought and endurance for them to battle out their way to the top of the leader board.

Paul Fernandes, Vice Chancellor, XUV, awarded prize money of Rs. 75,000 and the runners-up Rs. 35,000 respectively. The winners of the national finals will receive a grand prize of Rs. 5, 00,000 along with the coveted Tata Crucible Trophy.

The top six teams were selected after a preliminary written and a subsequent wild card round (only from the cities where it was held). Besides the winners and the runners-up, the four stage finalist teams included Rahil Sur and Gaurav Nair (KIIT), Mohd Abid Hussain and Nisan Gantanyat (XIMB), Jyoti Praksh Panda and Arnab Banerjee (Silicon Institute of Technology), Satwik Rout and Sheikh Sohail (IIIT).

The quiz was hosted by ace quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam, better known as ‘Pickbrain’ who through his questions kept the contestants and the audience constantly engaged.

The prizes for Tata Crucible Campus Quiz this year are being supported by Tata Docomo, Fastrack and Tata Motors.

Kicking off from Goa, the quiz will move on to other cities as per the schedule given below:

Zonal finals will be organized in New Delhi (Zone 1), Kolkata (Zone 2), Mumbai (Zone 3), and Chennai (Zone 4). The cities and their corresponding zones are given below:
