Killer tusker spotted on Bhubaneswar outskirts; attacks another woman

Bhubaneswar: The killer tusker that claimed lives of four persons in Puri district yesterday was reportedly spotted on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar early this morning.

As per reports, the tusker also attacked another woman near Patrapada Medicinal Plant Garden on the city outskirts early this morning. The critically-injured woman was later rushed to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The incident took place when she was plucking flowers at around 5.30 am today

Sources said the tusker is creating havoc after straying into human habitations in Pipili, Delang and Nimapara areas since last three days. Early this morning, the pachyderm was reportedly spotted in Patrapada Medicinal Plant Garden. Around 70 forest officials from Delang, Khordha, Tangi, Balipatna and Gop have been engaged to drive away the wild elephant.The forest officials have also advised local residents to avoid going outdoors.

Yesterday, four persons were killed and five others injured after the tusker attacked them in Nimapara and Pipili areas of Puri district.
