Knowledge centre for Kolkata-Chennai industrial corridor in Odisha capital

Union Minister for Commerce & Industry Nirmala Sitharaman today said Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, will be the Knowledge Centre for the proposed Kolkata-Vishakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor.

Since Odisha, with its large mineral resources, has got potential to emerge as the manufacturing hub in Eastern India, it would make eminent sense to develop the Knowledge Centre for skill development of this Industrial corridor proposed in the new industrial policy in Bhubaneswar, she said talking to media persons at the state BJP party office here this afternoon.

“Manufacturing industries have tremendous scope to generate employment. After completion of their education, students can get employment in this new industrial corridor,” said the minister.

Sitharaman urged the party members and social workers to popularise the PM’s Jana Dhana Yojna among the large number of rural inhabitants without bank accounts.  Under this Plan, the beneficiary shall get overdraft facilities, financial support & Insurance of Rupees 1 Lakh, she said.

Oil and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was also present, said that Odisha would be a big gainer because of the central government’s decision to enhance mineral royalty.
