Kolkata woman gang rape: Two prime accused held in Odisha

Konark: The two prime accused have been arrested on Friday in connection with the alleged gang rape of a West Bengal-based woman here, the police said today.

The culprits, Subhas Behera and Krushna Chandra Behera were apprehended on the basis of their phone call records, according to police sources.

A special team led by IIC Sanjeev Pradhan of Konark police station arrested Subhas from Bedpur area under Gop police limits on Friday. Similarly, the police also arrested Krushna Chandra by tracking his phone call records.

Both the accused were forwarded to court on Saturday after interrogation.

Earlier, more than seven lodge owners and managers were held and over 10 lodges sealed with regard to this case.

Notably, a woman from West Bengal’s Howrah area was rescued by the police and locals from a closed room at a market complex in Konark here October 17.

The woman had told Konark police that she was lured to Odisha on the pretext of a job one year ago but later she was raped by more than 10-12 men and forced into prostitution.
