Labourer dies, another critical in stone quarry blast in Odisha’s Khordha

Khordha: In a tragic incident, a labourer died and another sustained critical injuries during blast at a stone quarry in Odisha’s Khordha district today.

According to reports, the mishap took place when blasting was being carried out illegally at Kalinga Mundia stone quarry here this morning.

A large piece of rock fell on Tulu Kalasha of Malipada village, who was working as a labourer at the quarry, following which he was crushed to death under it.

Another labourer, identified as Chandu Kalasha, was grievously injured in the incident. He was rescued by fellow workers and rushed to nearby hospital.

Police have started investigation into the incident.
