People offered prayers and were later part of the Hola Mohalla procession and celebrations at the shrine.

Anandpur Sahib is located about 85 km from Chandigarh. The gurdwara here is the second most important shrine of Sikh religion after Harmandar Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple, in Amritsar.

It was here in 1699 that the 10th Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh, baptized five men and founded the Khalsa Panth, which is the modern day Sikh religion.

Elsewhere in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, Holi was celebrated with great enthusiasm.

Youngsters and families applied colours on each other and exchanged sweets.
