Late MLA Subal Sahu’s family likely to join BJD in Odisha

Bargarh: Family of late Congress MLA Subal Sahu of Bijepur assembly constituency is likely to join Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Quitting the Congress, the family of Subal Sahu will join the BJD on September 23, informed Labour Minister Sushant Singh, who represents Bhatli constituency in Bargarh district, here today.

The bi-poll for Bijepur assembly constituency will be held soon, he said.

Notably, the ruling BJD is eying to capture Bijepur constituency following demise of Congress MLA Subal Sahu on August 22.

Sahu was elected to Assembly from Bijepur thrice on Congress ticket in 2004, 2009 and 2014 elections. He defeated top BJD leader Prasanna Acharya in 2014 assembly polls.
