Lawyer assaulted by cops inside police station in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: At a time when the spat between Orissa High Court lawyers and police is yet to be resolved, another incident of a lawyer allegedly being beaten by policemen inside Buguda police station in Odisha’s Ganjam district has come to fore.

According to reports, lawyer Haraprasad Das was allegedly scolded and thrashed by cops inside Buguda police station. Das sustained injuries and has been admitted to the Buguda community health centre for treatment.

The incident took place while the lawyer had gone to the police station with one of his clients in connection with a case. A heated exchange of words took place between Das and the policemen over the case following which the cops allegedly assaulted the lawyer.
