Sambalpur University on Saturday announced postponement of its convocation scheduled for September 25 till further notice.

The Varsity’s PRO and political science lecturer informed the media that due to unavoidable circumstances, the 26th Convocation of Sambalpur University scheduled to be held on September 25, 2013, was being postponed until further notification. The vice-chancellor had received a communication from the chancellor’s office asking for the postponement of the annual event.

The decision was taken in view of the lawyers’ strike in western Odisha, university sources said. In a related development, the students’ association of Gangadhar Meher College is planning to boycott the coming students’ union election in support of the lawyers’ agitation.
