Bhubaneswar, Apr 13:

Trouble intensified for Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS &CW) Minister Sanjay Das Burma as leaders cutting across party lines trained their guns at him today over his alleged links with tainted chit fund company AT group.

Two days after Leader of the BJD parliamentary party in Lok Sabha Bhartruhari Mahatab said that the demand from the opposition parties for his resignation is a good suggestion, another party stalwart Damodar Rout today pulled up Sanjay.

“You keep asking me about Sanjay Das Burma as he is a minister. I will tell you – people these days are coming to politics for power and money. They are bound to do make mistakes. So far as moral responsibilities are concerned, once who is in public domain should be aware of it and behave honourably. If someone pretends to not understand, what else can one expect from them,” said Rout taking a jibe at Das Burma.

Senior Congress leader and archrival Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra (Lulu) — whose press conference opened the can of worms – today threatened to release another set of documents.

“There is this person from Malud with last name Biswal. I ask him (Das Burma) to reveal the sort of relationship they (Das Burma and Biswal) had. I would like him to answer if he made financial transactions with Biswal from his account. Besides, their prior financial condition and details of investments made in mining, granite industry and real estate. I would reveal more documents on April 19, if I don’t get satisfactory answers,” threatened Mohapatra without taking the name of Das Burma.

BJP also upped its ante against the FS &CW Minister and demanded his resignation.

“The Chief Minister, who claims to head a clean and transparent government, needs to fire him immediately. We are touring various pockets of the state and would take the matter to the public, should he not pay heed to our demand,” warned BJP Odisha unit President Basant Panda.

Das Burma, on the other hand, preferred not to make a public statement on the face of ever spiralling odds.
