Leopard skin racket busted in Odisha; two smugglers abscond

Bhawanipatna: Odisha cops today busted another leopard skin smuggling racket with seizure of hide during vehicle inspection here in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

However, two smugglers involved in the racket managed to flee from the spot.

According to reports, the leopard skin was being smuggled by two persons on a bike from Ambadola this morning.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Biswanathpur police conducted frisking near Dhanrabhata road. However, the two accused gave a slip to the cops and fled leaving behind a sack and bike.

The police seized the leopard skin from the sack and the vehicle, which was used for smuggling.

Later, the seized items including the tiger skin were handed over to the Kalahandi district forest officials.

A probe is underway to nab the persons involved in the leopard skin racket in the district.
