Leopards spotted near village in Odisha’s Nuapada, locals panic

Nuapada: Presence and movement of two leopards near Musringi Reserve Forest in Odisha’s Nuapada district left residents of nearby localities panic-stricken.

Couple of days ago, some villagers had spotted the animals atop a hill. Their movement towards the nearby forest was also detected by the locals.

Forest officials today reached the spot and initiated efforts to drive the leopards away towards deep forest.

“The big cats have not moved towards the villages. We are keeping a sharp watch on the movement of the leopards. Patrolling has been intensified in the area and awareness is being created among locals to keep themselves and domestic animals safe,” said Nuapada Ranger Asit Kumar Das.

The villagers have been advised not to venture into forest during night.
