Lie detection test of Koraput gang rape suspects likely: Odisha DGP

Bhubaneswar: If necessary suspects in the heinous Kunduli gang rape case will be subjected to lie detection test, informed Odisha DGP R P Sharma today.

“If strong suspects make prevaricating statements then there is a possibility of subjecting them to lie detection test,” said DGP Sharma briefing newsmen on the progress made in the probe of Kunduli gang rape case of Koraput district.

Progress in the investigation has been good and suspects are being interrogated, he added.

“Till now involvement of security forces or Maoists has not yet been established. Since investigation is being done from all angles. And we have got some leads. After working on those leads, the investigation is being conducted in a specific direction. I hope after we are able to dig out some more facts we will get more information on the case,” the DGP said.

Notably, a Class IX student was allegedly gang raped by four armed men in combat uniform in a forested area near Sorispadar village under Pottangi police limits in Koraput district.

The victim was returning home from school after taking a passport picture in a photo studio at the Kundulihaat on October 10.
