Lightning strikes claim more than twenty lives in Odisha

Lightning strikes at different places in Odisha claimed at least twenty five lives, today.

According to reports, Ajay Jena and Padmalochan Jena of Angula village in Soro block of Balasore district were killed after being struck by lightning when they were working in crop fields. Another person, identified as Gajendra Patra of Jagannathpur village here, was killed in a similar way.

A woman of Paikasida, two brothers of Namakana and one person of Churmara in Jaleswar of Balasore district lost their lives in the lightning.

Four persons of Bisalapatta village in Banta block of Bhadrak district lost their lives in lightning strike. The incident took place while they were working in their field.

Similarly, two persons of Balichaturi village in Tihidi block, one of Panibhandar village, one woman of Kusannagar, one of Manipur village in Chandbali of Bhadrak district were killed by lightning strike.

Two persons, one from Ramachandrapur in Anandpur of Keonjhar district and another of Mendhasala in Khordha, were killed in the nature’s fury. Three persons of Sundarpur in Khordha lost their lives in the lightning.

A girl of Digidhar village in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district was killed in the lightning strike. Similarly, a student of Hariharpur in Nayagarh district was killed during lightning.
