Liquor salesman stabbed to death in Odisha capital

A 35-year-old youth was murdered after being attacked by some goons near Sriram Nagar Club under Lingaraj police limits late on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Aditya Pradhan of Jagatsinghpur, at present staying behind Canal Road in Lingaraj area. He was working as a salesman at a foreign liquor shop located at Garage Chhack in the Lingaraj area.

DCP, Bhubaneswar Satyabrata Bhoi rushed to the spot and launched an investigation along with IIC of the local police station and the zonal ACP.

“Preliminary investigation suggests that loot bid could be the reason for killing Pradhan, who was stabbed by six goons who came on a bikes,” Bhoi said.

After closing the liquor shop, Pradhan went to Sriram Nagar area, where the shop owner stays, to hand over the keys of the shop along with the day’s cash. Some goons followed him on a bike and stopped him near the club and stabbed him to death with sharp weapons.

Pradhan’s body was taken to Capital hospital for autopsy.

Police said Pradhan was carrying more than Rs 40,000 with him when he was stabbed to death. Investigation is on to nab the culprits, they added.
