Jagatsinghpur: Despite repeated orders from state Government to stay indoors, Jagatsinghpur police arrested six persons and collected a total fine amount of Rs 42,500 in the last 24 hours (from 8 am, April 6 to 8 am, April 7) for allegedly violating the lockdown norms.
As per a press release issued by the District Intelligence Bureau, four cases were registered at separate police stations in the districts for violation of various lockdown guidelines and regulations in the period. Besides, six person were arrested in this connection. Along with that, the police collected Rs 42,500 as fine after checking around 96 vehicles in the last 24 hours.
Of the four cases, the Abhaychandrapur police seized a car carrying 75 litres of illegal liquor and arrested three persons from the vehicle. Another violator was arrested by Nuagaon police for carrying five litres of illegal liquor. Meanwhile security arrangements in the area have further been intensified in order to curb the spread of the infection in the district.
Meanwhile, the DGP informed that as many as 244 cases have been registered by the Odisha Police in connection with violation of various guidelines and regulations related to COVID-19 from April 6 morning till April 7 morning.
In an official tweet, DGP Abhay today informed that out of the total 244 cases registered, 227 were for violation of lockdown norms, three cases were for violation of home quarantine, five for rumour mongering and nine for other related issues.
