Lok Sabha adjourned over derogatory Sri Lanka article

New Delhi, Aug 4:

The Lok Sabha was Monday adjourned till 2 p.m. following protests by AIADMK members against a derogatory article on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Soon after the house met for the day, the members disrupted the proceedings of the house forcing Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn the house for fifteen minutes till 12.30 p.m.

The scene remained the same when the Lok Sabha reassembled, which led to a further adjournment till 2 p.m.

An article about Jayalalithaa and Modi was published on the Sri Lankan defence ministry’s web site last week and was taken down in a hurry. Sri Lanka also offered an “unqualified apology” over the article.
