Commissionerate Police on Thursday nabbed a gang of four looters in the city and seized three motor cycles, 18 mobile phones and coins amounting Rs 5000 from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, Kharavela Nagar police today raided various places in the city and arrested Muna Sethi (23) of Nayagarh and Janak Biswal (23) of Angul, both from Rental Colony, Sukhdev Biswal (25) of Jagatsinghpur from OUAT colony and Suresh Kumar Das (22) from Khandagiri. They were forwarded to the local Court here today, police said.

According to Inspector-in-charge of Kharavela Police Station Nihar Ranjan Pradhan, the arrested persons, which included an auto driver and ITI degree holders, were involved in petty crimes like snatching mobiles phones and looting coins from temple hundis.

“We are interrogating them to find out whether they have any other associates,” stated the IIC adding that investigation is on to ascertain that whether they have any criminal antecedents.
