“The foremost duty of the Chief Minister is to protect the life and property of the citizens. 25 lakh families in the state have been looted in the chit fund scam and the Chief Minister has failed to protect them. Instead of providing them protection, his activities suggest that many things were in his know. That is why I demanded his resignation in the House today,” said Mishra speaking to the media.

Participating in the debate on the Appropriation Bill-2015 Mishra said that the state government was yet to institute criminal cases against those involved in the land scam on the basis of the Task Force report.

Neither had the government taken any action against the four district collectors who were implicated in the report by the Vigilance on the dal scam, he alleged during the debate.

The BJD has rubbished the claims of the Leader of the Opposition and has ascribed it as mere politicking.

“When there is provision in the law for protection of interest of the depositors and their identification process is on, I understand the government is very much eager on this issue. Those who are merely interested in politicking on the issue are not being accepted by the people,” commented BJD spokesperson and Barchana MLA Amar Prasad Satpathy.
