Love, Sex aur Dhokha: AIIMS-Bhubaneswar doctor arrested for duping girl

Bhubaneswar: A post graduate student in the cardiology department of the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Odisha capital was today arrested for duping a girl on the pretext of marriage.

The accused doctor identified as Jaideep Das Gupta was arrested by Mahila Police of the Twin City Commissionerate Police here under section 493, 417, 323, 420 and 506 of IPC.

As per complaint filed by victim’s father late last night, the accused established physical relationship with the 26-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage and later reneged on his promise.

The accused doctor currently pursuing DM in Cardiology department of the premier institute befriended the victim while her father was undergoing treatment at AIIMS about two years ago. She came in contact with the accused while she was looking after her father as an attendant.

The accused reportedly told her that her phone number is necessary for discharge formalities. That’s how he got the contact number of the victim and used to call her beyond professional duty.

The complaint read that the accused invited her to his hostel room many a times and had physical relationship with her. When he got physical with her for the first time, he promised to get married to her. He had physical relationship for months and the girl even got pregnant.

For Dussehra festival, the accused visited his hometown in West Bengal and upon his return the girl found out during video call that he was wearing an engagement ring. When she went to confront about this, the accused allegedly beat her up and threatened to kill her. Following this, she filed a complaint with the Mahila Police leading to his arrest.

The victim reportedly works as a banker and hails from Khurda.  She claimed that they were in a relationship for one year and nine months.
