Low Pressure: Heavy rainfall likely to lash these Odisha districts today

Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area over Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha today, the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted.

“The Low Pressure Area over east central & adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal now lies over central & adjoining north Bay of Bengal with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. It is very likely to move northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts during next 48 hours. Then, it is very likely to move westnorthwestwards across north Odisha and north Chhattisgarh during subsequent 2-3 days,” said yesterday’s evening bulletin of the Meteorological Centre.

It has issued Orange and Yellow warning for various districts in this connection.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Balasore, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir and Mayurbhanj.
