‘Low pressure likely on Aug 28, more rains in south Odisha’

Most parts of south Odisha will experience moderate to heavy rainfall as a low pressure is most likely to form on August 28.

Weather MetAccording to Dr Surendranath Pasupalak, head of agrometeorology at the Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology, a cyclonic circulation formed yesterday over 350 km across south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh, is most likely to take the shape of a low pressure on August 28.

Under its influence, light to moderate rains would continue in most parts of interior south Odisha including the undivided Gajapati, Koraput and Ganjam districts from August 25 to 28.

However, after the formation of the low pressure on August 28, heavy rains would continue in most parts of interior south Odisha till August 30, he said.

Dr Pasupalak, however, said weather in the coastal parts of Ganjam and Puri districts and north Odisha would remain dry during the period.

Local fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea as the wind speed would be 35-45 kmph under the influence of the low pressure, he added.
