Low Pressure likely to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha till July 17

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha till July 17, the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted.

“Yesterday’s Well Marked Low Pressure Area over south Coastal Odisha & neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists,” the Meteorological Centre said in its bulletin today.

Below is day-wise forecast for Odisha in connection with the low pressure.

Day-1 (Valid up to 0830 Hrs IST of 14.07.22): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Boudh (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Khordha, Puri, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur and Sonepur (Yellow Warning).

Day-2 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 14.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 15.07.22): Heavy to very heavy (7 to 20 cm) rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, and Boudh (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Kalahandi (Yellow Warning).

Day-3 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 15.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 16.07.22): Heavy to very heavy (7 to 20 cm) rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur and Bolangir (Yellow Warning).

Day-4 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 16.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 17.07.22): Heavy to very heavy (7 to 20 cm) rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Jajpur (Orange Warning).

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Boudh, Sonepur, Deogarh and Kandhamal (Yellow Warning).

Day-5 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 17.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 18.07.22): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada and Gajapati (Yellow Warning).

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea off Odisha coast adjoining areas of West-Central and Northwest Bay of Bengal till 16th July.
