Senior Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra (Lulu) today fired another salvo hitting out at Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Das Burma, though indirectly in his unique style without taking the Minister’s name.

The senior Congress leader attacked the Minister and the state government on three counts.

“Nilachal Builders has illegally constructed apartments. The person who was involved in these illegal constructions is a fund raiser of the government. Now he has transferred the company to his brother-in-law- Satyapriya Jaisingh’s name. From 2004 to 2011 in response to my questions in the Assembly the Urban Development Minister had admitted that those will be demolished. This was again raised in the Assembly by MLA Jogesh Singh two-four days back during the current session. Now the government is saying that criminal cases will be instituted against the builder. I would like to know why these illegal constructions have not been demolished?” queried Mohapatra at a press conference here today.

Secondly, the same person and son of a former minister have looted crores from the Barpada Engineering College.

“The same person and son of an MLA are in the board of directors of Barpada Engineering College in Bhadrak. Both have embezzled crores from the college. Even though rules provide that a person who happens to be in the board of directors of a college cannot be a minister of the same department but that person is a minister of the same department. They have even purchased buses in the names of their drivers, peons etc. I demand the matter be probed by the CBI,” the senior Congress leader demanded.

Moreover, large scale corruption to the tune of crores has taken place in paddy procurement at mandis (market yards), Mohapatra alleged adding that officials from top to bottom of Revenue, Cooperation and Supply departments are involved in the scam.
