Ma Yashoda serves Sri Krishna 611 dishes on “Vayanjan Dwadashi”!

Worried about her son getting thinner day-by-day Mother Yashoda had cooked the favourite dishes of her beloved son Lord Krishna in Dwapar Yug. This symbol of a mother’s love for her child is celebrated as “Vayanjan Dwadashi”.

This year Vayanjan Dwadashi was celebrated with a whooping 611 platter in Shri Gour Vihar Ashram, Puri.

This year on the Margasira Shukla Dwadashi Tithi, on Tuesday, Shri Gour Vihar Ashram, or Mata Math was full of devotees who had arrived to partake the sumptuous mahaprasad of 611 dishes!
“Mother Yashoda used to make many dishes for lord Krishna during the Dwapar Yug, this tradition has continued till now. It is a great pleasure to eat the Prasad,” said a devotee.

Symbolising the maternal love or Yatsalya Raas. “This is a reflection of a mother’s love for her child. Ma Yashoda cooks before dawn all the dishes so that her son can eat to his fill. She is worried that her son is growing frail by the day.

This year the Mata Math have made 611 dishes as Mahaprasad,” said Ravindra Narayan Mishra, ex-administrator Jagannath Mandir.
